In this Blender and Substance Painter tutorial I show how to UV unwrap a hard surface model with Blender 2.90. I start with the sharp edges, mark the seams and then remove some of the seams to keep sepcial UV islands together. After that I unwrap the mesh and export it into Substance Painter, but I check the option to create the tilesets per UDIM file to avoid the creation of a tileset per material. Then I explain how to add 2 smart materials to the model by using a balck mask and removing parts of the mask for special UV islands using the polygon fill tool.
