How to add and transform objects to create simple models using Blender. 1. When you first start Blender, you are provided with a cube, a lamp and a camera by default. 2. Delete the cube object by selecting it by left clicking, then pressing ‘x’, and then ‘delete’ 3. Another feature of Blender is the 3D cursor. Whenever you click anywhere in the viewing pane, the 3D cursor will move to the point where you clicked. 4. When you create or add new objects to the project, they appear on the 3D cursor. 5. Choose front view by pressing ‘1’ and ortho by pressing 5 if you’re in perspective mode 6. Press ‘Shift C’ to centre the scene and also show all objects on the stage, which can be useful if you have a lot of objects and want to see where everything is 7. Add an object from the ‘Add’ dropdown menu at the top or simply by pressing ‘shift A’ 8. Choose the ‘Mesh’ menu and select a ‘UV Sphere’ to add to the project 9. A UV sphere is an object made up of polygons, which are basically flat squares 10. Edit the geometry of the object in the Object Tool section on the bottom left of the viewing pane 11. If the Object tool bar is not visible, press ‘t’ to bring it on-screen. 12. Reduce the number of segments and rings of your UV sphere to 12. Too many polygons in an object like this takes far too long to render so it’s better to have as few as possible 13. Add a second sphere by duplicating the first one by pressing ‘shift d’. Always click the left mouse button to lock in changes. Resize and scale the sphere by pressing ‘s’. When you are resizing, if you press ‘z’, ‘x’ or ‘y’, your scaling will align to an axis 14. Duplicate and scale the sphere again for the head. We are building a snowman! 15. Add a new UV sphere by pressing Shift A. Reduce the polygons down to 12. Resize smaller. 16. Press ‘r’ to rotate the sphere and then type ‘-90’ to rotate the eyeball. 17. It is important to know where your object is from both front and side view and where the front of your object is. 18. Reposition the eye so that it is on the front of the snowman’s face. 19. Add a mouth and buttons in the same way using the ‘Icospheres’ this time, not UV Spheres 20. Create and arm by adding a cylinder object. In the Object tool bar, reduce the number of vertices to 12. You can only change the geometry of an object when you first create it. 21. Use the Scale gizmo to make the cylinder smaller and longer like a twig arm 22. Duplicate the cylinder, press ‘s’ and ‘z’ to make it smaller on the z axis. 23. Move the finger by pressing ‘g’ and rotate it by pressing ‘r’ until it’s in the correct position 24. Repeat this process for the other 2 fingers – duplicate, scale, move and rotate 25. We now need to select and move all 4 of the cylinders at the same time A) Right click on each one, while holding the shift key down to multiple select, or B) Press ‘b’ on the keyboard to ‘Box Select’, wh
