Get ready to dive into the world of fluid simulations with the FLIP fluids addon for Blender! In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create realistic fluids, such as water, lava, or goop, using the powerful settings in FLIP fluids. You'll discover how to set up your simulation, control the behavior of the fluids, and fine-tune the details to achieve the desired look. Along the way, you'll also learn some useful tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your simulations. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced user, this tutorial has something for you. So open up Blender and let's get started with FLIP fluid simulations! I tried to make 1 tutorial, that’ll take you from absolute beginner, with no experience with fluid simulations or FLIP fluids, to an advanced user, so that you know what to tweak and play with to get the desired FLIP fluid result. Big thanks to Ryan Guy and the @FLIPFluids team for adding me as an affiliate of FLIP fluids, buy it here to support my channel and get the full addon: https://blendermarket.com/products/flipfluids/?ref=48 Or try FLIP fluids free: https://github.com/rlguy/Blender-FLIP-Fluids/wiki/FLIP-Fluids-Demo-Addon Grab the finished files (for the start and end of the video) on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/early-access-for-76891538 High Surface Tension Look - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYhtNRs-X-g Surface Tension Comparison - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aE7GcSaTyuU&t=10s Changes I made after filming / FAQs: - Just what’s in the video screenshot - had to manually delete the bake files for it to continue baking without crashing. I tried clearing the bake in FLIP fluids first, ie “clear cache”, but this didn’t work. I had to find the folder where FLIP fluids was saving fluid sim data, and delete all the files in there. - I didn't mention anything in the video about scale! Here are 3 the ways you can control the apparent scale of your sim: 1. Changing the scale either by scaling your domain, or navigating to Flip Fluid Simulation: World Scale: and changing how it interprets 1 Blender Unit, or setting it to "absolute" and choosing the domain size in metres. 2. Clever use of surface tension. At smaller scales, surface tension becomes more apparent, so enabling and increasing it can sell a small scale fluid. Disable it for any large scale water. Have a look at the surface tension comparison linked above to get an idea of what you should set this at. 3. We only see whitewater in large scale fluids - for example I don't see it when pouring a glass of water, so enabling whitewater can make your fluid look larger scale. 4. Change the speed under Flip Fluid Simulation: Frame Rate: Speed. Faster looks smaller, slower looks bigger. I'd recommend using point 1 instead though, and changing scale directly, as this affects speed. Screen recorded in 1080p and upscaled with Topaz Video AI - works surprisingly well.
